I founded Light House Accounting in late 2024 with a simple goal: to help families and business owners truly understand their finances and make confident decisions about their future.

Accounting shouldn’t feel intimidating or inaccessible. My approach is built on clarity, education, and being genuinely easy to reach. Whether that means handling CRA matters on your behalf, planning ahead for life events with tax implications, or bringing structure to the day-to-day finances of your business or household, my role is to reduce financial stress and create lasting peace of mind.

Long before I became an accountant, I spent years working on the front lines—restaurants, lifeguarding, and construction jobs, often all at the same time. I was usually younger than my peers, but carried more financial responsibility early on. That experience taught me how to manage money carefully, prioritize learning, and look for opportunities to grow rather than shortcuts to spend.

By working throughout high school and university and saving diligently, I funded my own education and graduated debt-free. I’ve never been motivated by material things—nice cars were never the goal. In fact, my cars were usually in such rough shape that I had to learn how to fix them myself. I carried no personal debt until purchasing my first home in 2018 at age 23, where I rented out the upper floors to keep housing costs low.

That foundation gave me the stability to embrace uncertainty later on. Looking back, I’m grateful for the unexpected shifts brought on by COVID—it ultimately led to my wife returning from her travels abroad and the start of our life together. As our family plans grew, so did our need for space.

I come from a farming family in the Chatham area and have always felt most at home outside the city. I love being outdoors, gardening, and growing things from seed. That pull led us to Winterbourne, where we found a home with a large yard and room to build—not just physically, but financially.

We quickly saw an opportunity in underused space and converted our basement into a separate legal dwelling—our first new housing unit. The process wasn’t easy. What we hoped would be a smooth transition turned into a multi-year journey involving fire marshals, zoning challenges, and city approvals. After initial resistance due to ceiling heights, we finally received approval at the end of 2024. The project was completed in July 2025—marking our second legal residence created in just two years.

Those experiences shape how I work with clients today. I understand compliance, long timelines, financial pressure, and the value of planning ahead. I also understand that behind every number is a real life, a family, and a future.
